This year celebrates the 150th anniversary of the founding of the city of Breckenridge, Colorado, and also the 25th anniversary since they allowed snowboarding on the slopes of a ski resort. The station was one of the first to embrace this new way ‘revolutionary’ and home to one of the first competitions worldwide.
In 1986 Breckenridge hosted the The World Snowboarding Championships, also called simply “The World’s”. In that event confirmed its commitment to snowboarding. In fact it was one of the first stations to let slip through his tracks on a snowboard. Breckenridge continues today its support and promotion of snowboard competitions as the Winter Dew Tour, or welcoming newcomers into the Breckenridge Freeride Team, and other events. The winter resort has four snow parks and three half-pipe, including one of the best in the U.S., the Freeway Terrain Park / Pipe, and a progressive system of parks for beginners and intermediate riders.
For this year and expected the second edition of the Winter Dew Tour, which will be held from 17 to 20 December. The tour consists of three stages in different parks of the United States, with a cumulative points system and a total prize pool of $ 1.5 million.
