University of Santa Fe offers Master of Education




Master of Education is offered through the Department of Continuing and Professional Studies at the university. This program is designed for teachers of elementary, middle and high school, who have responsibility general classes or special education students and teachers to teach advanced students.

Santa Fe University of Art and Design announced the launch of a new version of his masters program in education, which combines training instruction via the Internet with traditional on campus.

The M.Ed. program with emphasis on creative and differentiated instruction (grades K-12), will be offered throughout the year in eight-week courses online and two residences of five days during the summer at the headquarters of the university in Santa Fe, NM. Students can now register for spring classes, which begin on January 18, 2011.

Teachers who obtain a master’s degree in education will be able to establish a differentiated curriculum and teaching and assessment of the diverse needs of students and integrate creative expression and the arts effectively into their teaching practices.

“The Department of Continuing and Professional Studies in Santa Fe University of Art and Design is pleased said Dr. Corinne Frank land, academic director of the program of university education.

”What sets this program is its focus on creativity as a fundamental part of change and innovation, as well as the offer is made to teachers in teaching and leadership tools that enable them to promote creativity and critical thinking their students. “

The Master of Education program is based on the following premises: first, that all children have the capacity to learn, regardless of their socioeconomic status, ethnicity, language or learning differences, and second, that creativity and the arts are fundamental to learn, live and work in the 21 st century.

The curriculum includes classes on the role of teachers as creative leaders and learning that integrates the arts and creative expression (photography, video, poetry, music, dance and painting) and gives its graduates the opportunity to explore strategies for use those arts and creative expression…

In a teaching that is based on differentiation and assessment to meet the diverse needs of students.

This program is based on the Professional Teaching Standards established by the National Board (National Board for Professional Teaching Standards,) and carries no certification or licensee for a school position.

Master of Education allows its graduates to obtain the necessary tools to become teachers, curriculum coordinators, department head or teacher-mentor.
