fairs, Lake Hiawatha Neighborhood Festival: Annual festival held in August in the Lake Hiawatha neighborhood of South Minneapolis. Wefest: World's largest outdoor country music festival. Music, food, beer, camping, people. Lots-O-Fun! Held yearly in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. Festival Of Nations: The Festival of Nations has been presented since 1932 by the International Institute of Minnesota and has become one of the nation's largest and longest-running multi-ethnic event. It is usually held in the month of May each year. New Ulm's Heritagefest: Heritagefest® is the place for good fresh-air fun! Discover Germany in Minnesota at one of the top 100 events in North America held each July. It is an Old World celebration of German culture featuring entertainment on five stages under huge outdoor tents, including several different European bands each weekend and a variety of local family acts. Beautiful flowers and enormous circus tents help give Heritagefest® it's colorful look. Festgoers can purchase locally brewed beverages while food stands dish up wonderful servings of German sauerkraut and bratwurst. Costumed dancers, singers, musicians and spontaneous entertainers mingle with the crowds. There is also a 100-unit parade featured on the last Sunday. The Taste Of Minnesota: Celebration held on Harriet Island over the Fourth Of July holiday. Fantastic fireworks displays, over 40 food booths run by local restaurants, great music, and lots of arts and crafts for sale. The Saint Paul Winter Carnival: In 1885 a New York Times Reporter wrote that Saint Paul was the "Siberia of America" and questioned whether it was fit for human habitation. Offended by this attack on their Capital City, the Saint Paul Chamber of Commerce decided to not only prove that Saint Paul was habitable but that it's citizens were very much alive during winter, the most dominant season. Thus was born the Saint Paul Winter Carnival. Each year the Carnival offers over 100 events including parades, cultural celebrations, ice and snow sculpting, and a giant snow slide. Usually begins the last week of January. The Minneapolis Aqautennial: The Minneapolis Aqautennial is a thirty-eight event, ten-day festival held annually during the third week of July drawing an estimated 800,000 guests. The Aqautennial produces one of Minnesota's largest parades, the nation's fourth largest fireworks show, milk carton boat races, sand castle competitions, running, events and programs for juniors and seniors and many other family-oriented activities.
