Description: The Minnesota Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church is responsible for the work of the Adventist Church in Minnesota. The office, in Maple Grove, Minnesota, employs more than 30 pastors for more than 70 churches throughout the state. Eleven elementary schools and two high schools also fall under the conference administration, as well as a summer camp for children, young people and families. The Adventist Church in Minnesota offers a variety of community programs, including crisis response, healthy living resources, and spiritual life resources. Pastor Jeff Wines has accepted the call from the Minnesota Conference to serve as the Youth Director/Communication Director; he is currently serving as senior pastor for the Columbia Seventh-day Adventist church in Columbia Missouri. Jeff started pastoral ministry in the Minnesota Conference in 1997 as the youth pastor for the Minnetonka Church. In August 1999 Jeff married Cathy who at the time was a social worker and studying massage therapy. In 2000, the Wines moved to Berrien Springs Michigan where Jeff pursued a master degree at the Andrews University Theological Seminary. After completing his MA in Youth Ministry, Jeff worked for three years as assistant professor in the School of Technology. By Martin Weber, assistant to the MAUC president and communication director Hubert Cisneros has accepted the position of youth and personal ministries director for the Mid-America Union. He will transition from his current post as executive secretary of the Ohio Conference on March 1. “Elder Cisneros is a consummate synergizer,” says Roscoe J. Howard III, president of the Mid-America Union. “He is continually strategizing and striving for creative cooperation between pastors and lay people and among the departments of local churches and conferences. He also has a vision for evangelistic connectivity with the church’s many educational and healthcare institutions. We are delighted to welcome him to our field.” Thirty-one students graduated from the Bible Worker Certificate program from Andrews University. Dr. Ricardo Norton, program director, was present for the graduation which took place at the Richfield Hispanic Church. More than forty students attended ten all-day sessions and completed all the reading and research assignment to complete all the requirements, and 31 finished successfully and graduated. The certificate is an academic, not a professional, certificate, but Andrews University does grant the equivalent of two college credit-hours for those who may wish to use them for their education. Present at the graduation ceremony were Dr. Ricardo Norton, from Andrews University, Pastor Yulian Tinoco, Pastor Claudio Consuegra, VP for administration and ethnic ministries director for the Minnesota Conference, Hispanic ministries coordinator, and pastors Samuel Bustamante and Eric Juarez.
