Description: The Green Routes website is an easy-to-use tool to help you find one-of-a-kind places to eat, play, shop, sleep, and learn. Green Routes will help you discover small, unique businesses that are rooted in their communities; places to eat where the food is not only fresh from a family farm, but where you might bump into the farmers who grew it; places to have fun while helping to ensure that our natural and cultural resources will be around for many generations to come. Green Routes gives you a way to incorporate your values into your travels. It makes it easy to find fun and rich experiences and places. Take time to explore the back roads and learn about a region from the people who live and work there. When you explore Green Routes regions, you'll find no tour guides more gracious than the owners of these green businesses. And, since the places highlighted are not necessarily your typical tourist destination, please respect the hours of operation as well as the spaces themselves, and call ahead if you have special needs. Green Routes businesses are selected by regional advisory groups made up of business owners, community leaders, and community-based organizations. Each advisory group reviews applications and nominations of businesses and decides which to include in Green Routes materials based on how each business meets the following criteria. We want to support small businesses and communities that have made a commitment to be more environmentally and socially sustainable while building their local economy. We think you want to do this too! So we’ve developed this fun and easy way show how you’ve visied Green Routes destinations to document that travelers will patronize green businesses if they can find them. Next time you travel, use the Green Routes website or one of the Green Routes maps to find fun and unique places to eat, play, sleep, shop and learn. As you visit these places add them to your online Travelogue along with the date you visited them. Once you have visited five places, submit the list back to us, (you could download the pdf version to take with you as you travel and mail that to us too) and then we’ll enter you in a drawing for a $50.00 gift certificate that can be used at any of the Green Routes businesses. Download a Travelogue PDF here. You can print this and carry it with you on your travels to record your Destinations. You can also track your visits using greenroutes.org! When you click to open a Destination, use the Save to My Destinations link at the bottom, and just enter the date of your visit. The Destination and date will be saved to the My Destinations page where you can print them to submit.
